Synopsis:

After a car accident leaves his family in need of his help, Thai returns home to Southern California, only to find his whole world in disarray. With mounting medical bills and secrets of their own, the family watches as Cher, a tough and stubborn Hmong father, suffers through the devastating effects of kidney failure. Thai struggles to choose between his fractured relationship with his family, or a life free from the burden of traditions.

Doua Moua as Thai

Best known for his menacing role as Fong/ Spider in Clint Eastwood’s film Gran Torino for which he received praise from The New York Times and The Star Tribune hailed him “a star in the making.” He played Po in Disney’s live-action adaptation of Mulan directed by Niki Caro. Doua has appeared on TV in Comedy Central’s Michael & Michael Have an Issue, Nickelodeon’s The Naked Brothers Band, The Sundance Channel’s The Captive, CBS’s “Blue Bloods’ and MTV’s “One Bad Choice.” Doua has also performed in numerous Off-Broadway and Off-Off Broadway productions, his last being Richard Greenberg’s play “Take Me Out” for which was singled out in the New York Post review for giving a “terrific” performance.


Perry Yung as Cher

An American actor and musician from Oakland, CA who got his breakout role as Ping Wu in Steven Soderbergh’s Cinemax series The Knick. He quickly became a fan favorite and recurred for two. He has guest starred on Gotham, The Blacklist, Blue Bloods, Royal Pains, SVU Law and Order and The Equalizer among others. His film work includes John Wick: Chapter 2, Benji the Dove, Condemned, Jade Pendant Boogie and voiced the Puppet master in the English language release of the Chinese animated feature The Guardians Brothers. In 2018 Perry landed the role of Father Jun in Cinemax’s Warrior, produced by Justin Lin (Fast and Furious), Shannon Lee (Bruce Lee’s daughter) and Jonathan Tropper (Banshee) This dream production allowed him to combine acting with his music career as an award-winning shakuhachi bamboo flute musician. His flute playing is heard on the soundtrack score throughout Season

Perry is a member of La Mama Theater’s Great Jones Repertory Company of
New York City and has appeared Off-Broadway and internationally since 1993.


Dawn Ying Yuen as Youa

Started acting in Singapore at age 19, and she performed in both Mandarin and English projects. In 2001, She moved and settled in Los Angeles, and started acting classes not long after. She started her
training in the Meisner technique, and the Stanislavski based method acting. However, her last training was in stage and camera acting in The Master Class at Beverly Hills Playhouse which she stayed for about 3 years. Dawn Ying Yuen has worked in Student Films, Industrial Videos, Web series, Television, Short Films, and Indie Films. Dawn Ying Yuen speaks Mandarin, Cantonese and English fluently, and because she is able to speak accented English as well, she plays many overseas asians and immigrant roles. Dawn danced Chinese and Modern dance for 10 years until she had to stop due to breast cancer. Currently, Dawn is in remission, and is still flexing her acting chops in as many projects
as she can handle.


Chrisna Chhor as Sue

Currently attending CSULB and majoring in Theatre Arts. She was born in Bellflower, California, and aspired to be an actress since high school. Chrisna is very grateful to have worked on The Harvest hopes that many people can identify with the compelling story. She would like to thank everyone who contributed their hard work to this production and especially gives thanks to Caylee So, Doua Moua, Perry Yung, and Dawn Ying Yuen for guiding her through her first feature film.


DIRECTOR, Caylee So

Caylee So was born in a refugee camp in Thailand, just after her parents escaped from the reign of Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia. When she was just three years old, her family immigrated to the United States.

Soon after her high school graduation, Caylee joined the US armed forces and served in the Virginia Army National Guard for the next eight years. In between tours of duty, Caylee attended Northern Virginia Community College and George Mason University where she discovered her love of writing fiction and pursued a BA in creative writing. Caylee received her MFA in Film Directing at Dodge College of Film and Media Arts where she won the Best Picture and Best Director at her school’s Cecil Awards.

She is the co-founder of the Cambodia Town Film Festival, an honorary committee member of the Cambodian International Film, a recipient of the Linda Mabelot’s New Directors/New Visions Award, the Director’s Guild of America’s 18th Annual Best Female Student Director award and the 32nd annual Los Angeles County “Women of the Year” Award. Her critically acclaimed short films include Testigo Ilegal, Paulina, and Rupture. Her award-winning feature film so co-directed “In The Life of Music” represented Cambodia in the country’s 2018 Oscar submission.


PRODUCER, John Houselog

John Houselog graduated from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts with a degree in Film and Television Production. He started his career interning at Legendary Entertainment and has since moved up the ranks working as an Executive Assistant and Story Editor aiding extensively with development of a full slate of projects set up on both the studio and independent side.
